The Prog Magazine protégé has pushed boundaries in 2024 with their first trip outside the UK, following an invitation to the Post.In.Paris festival, where they took the mainstage for a standout performance alongside Oh Hiroshima.
Traveling is always a challenge for the quartet due to health-related obstacles within the band, but their resilience and relentless pursuit of hope remain unwavering—even when life feels like it’s working against them. This very struggle is at the heart of their new single, which features a voice sample from the legendary philosopher Alan Watts.
They shared: “His voice serves as a guide through the song, providing a sense of clarity and grounding, while also challenging us to reflect on the deeper truths of existence. The words Watts speaks in this track are a call to action—a reminder that no matter the difficulties we face, we still have the power to shape our future.”
Musically, the song moves between quieter, introspective sections and more expansive, uplifting moments. It begins with a sense of uncertainty—mirroring those times when we feel lost or unsure—but gradually builds into something brighter and more hopeful. The ebb and flow of the song reflect the process of rediscovering hope, growing from contemplation to inspiration.
The band explains the song’s message: “At its core, ‘After All Is Said & Done’ is about rediscovering our ability to dream. Life often throws curveballs—illness, loss, setbacks—and it’s easy to lose sight of what once felt possible. But this song reminds us that we don’t need to be perfect, nor do we need to have everything figured out. The pursuit of our dreams isn’t about the end goal; it’s about the journey, the growth along the way, and the courage to keep moving forward despite the uncertainty.”
Music changed me — and still does.
I'm not particularly good at writing, nor do I know much about post-rock, so I’m not even sure what I’m doing here! 😅
Mostly enjoying melancholic music… I guess there is comfort in sadness for me. That probably made me the perfect target for post-rock when it found me. That said, I enjoy all kinds of music — especially soundtracks, shoegaze, and post-punk.
I’m constantly on the lookout for sounds that will blow my mind — that rare kind of feeling you don’t experience often in a lifetime… Falling in love with a new artist or a new sound... but when it happens, it's priceless.
That’s what happened to me with a few artists, including Alex Henry Foster, Emma Ruth Rundle, Loma, Oiseaux-Tempête, Fugazi, Switchfoot, and maybe a few more…
(Sorry Efrim, but I still love GY!BE 😉)
